America is Back
That’s what Joe Biden keeps saying…in announcing people he’d have in his Administration, if that comes to pass…in relating what he’s said in phone calls to foreign leaders…and in the few, controlled media availabilities he’s had since the election…America is back.
It’s a statement that shows just how deep in the swamp he and his people are. They were out of power for the last four years, and if they get to be back in charge, their idea is that “America is back”.
If a non-Trump Republican were to take over the White House from Democrats, they’d probably say something quite similar. It’s the establishment thing to do, claim that your side represents America, and that “America is back” when you and your side are back in charge.
The thing they miss…both sides, but under the spotlight now, Democrats…is that America never left, was never lost, never went anywhere. We were all still here, living our lives with the hope that government would stay out of our way.
We’re running businesses. We’re going to work and punching in for a paycheck. We’re raising families, with more attention toward the kids’ extra-curricular activities schedule than the legislative calendar in Congress.
If America needs to be “back”, it’s only because the COVID pandemic has disrupted so much of regular America, and we’re looking to getting back to going to stores, getting together with friends and family, and frankly just living without fear of catching a disease. And getting rid of masks and their limited value other than as a political or fashion statement.
So those who presume they are back in power can honk all they want about America being back…but we in real America never left. And any politician who claims otherwise is really talking about themselves, and not us.
