What Have You Done For Me Lately?
This is a recorded segment, and since things are changing so rapidly regarding the election, depending on when you’re listening a court could have rejected illegal ballots, the president could have conceded, the former vice-president could have taken back his acceptance…and a host of other things, all just as possible as the other, could have happened.
But the one thing that is certain is that the president essentially stood alone. The silence by Republican office holders has been deafening. Some of these folks were helped across the finish line of re-election a week ago by the very president whose name they seem to be forgetting now.
Blind allegiance to someone in politics is never a good plan. But the speed with which Republicans seemed to move on from the president from their party has been curious at best. They wish him well, ask for all the legal votes to be counted…but they’re not speaking out in favor of him, not traveling to contested states to lend a show of support, not hesitating before making plans to work with the new president.
There are a few exceptions, but actually very few. If social media is to be believed, and we know there’s doubt about that, voters who are still pulling for the president are confused by this lack of party support and say they won’t forget who abandoned their man in his time of need.
So why the apparent viewpoint of “Donald Who?” from GOP folks? Pretty easy to suggest that they never liked him anyway, and have always been hoping for the day when someone else is in the office. Pretty disingenuous if true, to sing his praises loudly until it looks like he may be out…and then quickly move to the swampy party operations of the past.
I don’t know if enough fraud and misconduct can be proven to wind up re-electing the president. I noted that some voters say they won’t forget who was not there for Trump post-election…I guarantee you that if he does wind up winning, he won’t either.News/Talk 1540 KXEL · Iowa Politics — Mon.
