Place Your Bets
Even presidential debates now have their own drinking games and betting lines. Sign of the times, I suppose.
A website known as SportsBettingDime.com, or “SBD” apparently, is placing odds on a whole host of things…mostly about what the incumbent will do.
For example, they’ve placed the over/under number of times Trump will interrupt Biden while his microphone is muted at 1.5. And they say the over/under length of time until Trump first mentions Biden’s son Hunter…only 7.5 minutes into the 90 minute debate.
Oh, and they’re giving straight up odds, too…9 to 1 that Trump mispronounces Burisma, and 15 to 1 that he mispronounces Kamala…which may be on purpose, so that to me alters the bet.
Odds the president will insult the moderator? 5 to 1. I’d say it’s a certainty, based on the past…but that’s probably why I don’t bet.
What’s the over/under on the number of times Biden will point at the camera to talk directly to the American people? 1.5
Odds that the challenger will respond to attacks on his son by mentioning the incumbent’s children? 8 to 1.
And my personal favorite…the odds Biden will tell Trump to shut up…3 to 1.
Remember when these used to be about policy and the future of the nation? No, me neither.
