I just want to make sure I understand things correctly.
Democrats in the Congress are upset about the balance on the U.S. Supreme Court, especially what it will be at this time next month. So some high profile Democrat leaders publicly noted that there is nothing in the Constitution limiting the number of justices to the traditional 9…and promised that with a Democrat president and a Democrat majority in the Senate, there might be an additional three, four, or even five new justices, expanding the court to up to 14 members to re-establish balance.
The President, in campaign appearances, warned about the Democrats’ plan, accurately stating what leaders said they would push to do, if they got the power.
In the first–and perhaps only–presidential debate, former Vice President Biden said he was the Democratic Party, as the candidate for president.
But Biden repeatedly refused to say if he agreed with the Congressional leaders…and others…in his party who advocated the so-called court packing plan.
So did his running mate, Senator Harris, in the lone vice presidential candidate debate on Wednesday.
Then came yesterday’s statement, when media again asked if he would be for, or against, court packing. He refused to answer, again claiming that it was a Trump trick because no matter what his answer was, that would be a headline.
Yes, a presidential candidate discussing his plans for when he is in office would indeed be a headline.
But then came this quote: “You’ll know my opinion on court packing when the election is over”…firmly declaring that on one of the issues both sides agree is pivotal…one of the major party candidates refuses to even give a hint of his stance until after we decide to vote for him or not.
Let me check…yep, still 2020. Figures.
