All In For Joe
Two more endorsements yesterday for presumptive Democrat presidential nominee Joe Biden…one from Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi, and one from former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.
It’s certainly not like either was going to support Donald Trump, or even Justin Amash of Michigan should he be the Libertarian nominee. And each stayed neutral during the primary fight. So why do endorsements yesterday?
Pretty clearly because the allegations of Tara Reade aren’t going away. She worked for then-Sen. Biden in 1993 and claims she was sexually assaulted in the halls of Congress by him. She was 26 years of age at the time.
No report was made, although some are now coming forward to say she did tell them about it at the time…and there’s the infamous tape of a Larry King Live program on CNN when a woman believed to be Reade’s mother called in for advice, without identifying Biden or her daughter by name.
Yes, the allegations are nearly 30 years old, but in this era of Me Too and all, allegations of that vintage against a Supreme Court nominee were fair game…and while all allegations are serious, and no assault is appropriate, the behavior of a high school or college kid aren’t on the same level as a sitting U.S. Senator while literally in the halls of Congress.
So again, nothing in politics is a coincidence. The Pelosi and Clinton endorsements aren’t going to make much difference in terms of swaying votes, but those pulling the strings obviously felt they were important to put into the news cycle yesterday.
