Weed resistance management is becoming more of a central focus for growers when developing their management plan for the growing season. As farmers are learning more about weed resistance, they are making changes to their management plans to ensure that they have the tools they need to battle weeds now and, in the future, when new herbicide technology becomes available.
Jeremy Sharp is a corn herbicide product lead with Syngenta and he tells the Iowa Agribusiness Radio Network that developing weed resistance management strategies is a key part of his job with Syngenta.
Sharp says that education and outreach to farmers is one of the best ways to inform growers about some of the weed resistance issues that they encounter every day.
He adds that there are some recent visible shifts in management strategies that growers are making to help confront weed resistance.
