Every year the meat industry can rely on a spike in demand for meat during the summer grilling season. However, with beef prices at extremely high levels in stores, will demand this grilling season be as high as it typically would be during the spring and summer grilling months?
Eric Relph of Commstock Investments tells the Iowa Agribusiness Radio Network that there are several economic factors weighing on American consumers as summer approaches.
Relph says that inflation concerns continue to be a factor in Americans decision making at the meat counter.
Despite very high beef prices consumers have continued to demonstrate a high demand for beef. One of the ways that consumers have stretched their dollars and continue to buy beef despite the price, is by buying ground beef instead of premium steak cuts.
