CEDAR FALLS, Iowa (KCRG) – A juvenile was seriously injured in an e-bike crash in Cedar Falls Monday night. Cedar Falls police responded to a two-vehicle crash at the intersection of Greenhill Road and Prairie Parkway at 5:54 p.m. Police say a Hyundai Tucson was heading southbound on Prairie Parkway and went through the intersection with a green light. A juvenile cyclist was traveling on the recreational trail along the south side of Greenhill Road. The cyclist entered the intersection and hit the side of the Tucson. The juvenile was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash and was taken to the hospital with serious injuries. Police are urging e-bike riders to slow down and follow all traffic signals.
WATERLOO, Iowa (KCRG) – One person died after a UTV crash near Waterloo Monday afternoon. 66-year-old Scott Reynolds was driving a UTV southbound just north of Crane Creek Road around 1:35 p.m. Police say it went off the road, rolled into a ditch, and came to rest on the driver’s side. The vehicle then caught on fire. Reynolds was pronounced dead at the scene.
CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (KCRG) – A grass fire in southeast Cedar Rapids was still burning after four hours on Monday night. Crews responded near the 900 block of 44th Street Southeast around 5:45 p.m. A TV9 reporter said fire and smoke were visible at the scene. Police say no one was hurt. No residents were evacuated, but crews are staged around homes to prevent the fire from spreading. The fire was still burning as of 9:45 p.m. Crews are still working hotspots and trees that caught fire. Cedar Rapids police said it’s too early to say what caused the fire, but there was considerable land burned on around 35 acres. The Cedar Rapids Fire Department responded along with the Linn County Sheriff’s Office and fire departments from Ely, Solon, Martelle, Mount Vernon, Swisher, Springville, Fairfax and Lisbon.
VINTON, Iowa (KCRG) – A former Vinton-Shellsburg preschool teacher is charged after police say she left bruises on a 4-year-old boy after an incident at the school. 51-year-old Kimberly Murray, of Manchester, was charged with child endangerment and assault causing bodily injury or mental illness on December 15, 2025. Court documents show the 4-year-old preschool class was outside for recess from 12:30 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. on September 17, 2025. A 4-year-old boy held the door for other students to come back inside following recess time, according to court documents. Police allege Murray “did not like” how he was holding it open and grabbed the boy by the upper arm. She then pulled him around to the other side of the door, allegedly leaving fingerprint bruises on his arm, according to court documents. Murray is no longer part of the district, and according to school board meeting documents; the board approved her separation in November.
