A Winneshiek County woman face charges after police say she made a lasagna for another family with the intent to cause a woman to miscarry her child. Amber Snow of Decorah faces charges including a felony count of intentionally terminating a pregnancy without the knowledge of a pregnant person, and delivering a controlled substance. Investigators she conspired with another man to spike food with oxycodone and delivered it to the family shortly after Christmas last year. Snow is being held on a $100,000 cash bond. The sheriff says more charges and arrests are imminent.
A 15-year-old boy died after a shooting in Dubuque late Monday night. Police believe one person shot the 15-year-old, and a group of people witnessed the crime. Police say there have been no arrests in the case. Officers say the parties knew each other and believe this was an isolated incident.
In Iowa City, police say a shooting hurt a teenager. It happened around 10:15 Monday night in the area of Wayne Avenue and Baker Street. That’s not far from Mercer Park. Police say someone shot the teen, who is expected to recover. There have been no arrests announced in the case.
The Marion Police Department has released body camera video showing the moments leading up to an officer-involved shooting where an 18-year-old man died. The video was released one day after the Iowa Attorney General announced officers were justified when they shot and killed Saber Bernard on February 4. The video shows Bernard talking with a neighbor before he pulled out a machete-style weapon from his clothing and charged an officer.
A Linn County judge has ruled the cars at Sky Auto Mall cannot be immediately seized as part of a suit alleging a multi-million dollar fraud scheme. A hearing on the issue is scheduled for March 20. Last week, Stellantis filed a lawsuit, accusing Sky Auto Mall of a $12 million fraud scheme and now wants to seize inventory from the dealership. The Better Business Bureau says customers might have trouble collecting on promised extras offered by the dealership. But the BBB says for now, people should get all their paperwork together and file a public complaint in case there is a settlement in the future.
