Thanks for Stopping
We just wrapped up three days at the Hawkeye Farm Show in Cedar Falls. I always enjoy the time there, because as I point out, usually I’m just in this room talking to myself…being able to get out and talk to people who hear me through this microphone is a nice change.
I do have to tell you that something felt different this year. Could have to do with where I’m at in life, could have to do with all the divisiveness in society, could have to do with anxiety about the farm economy, and the economy generally. But regardless of the reason, I feel like we met many more of you this year than in the past…folks who were kind enough to stop by our tent, pick up a KXEL bag for the goodies they would snare on the show floor, and share some conversation.
You told me what you liked, and what you don’t like…how long you’ve been listening, or in one case, someone who just discovered us this week. All of that is very important and very welcome feedback.
But many also talked about how much you appreciated the voices we bring you, both on a local and national basis. You shared how with all the noise out there, and all the sources you used to use not quite being what they used to be, you were glad KXEL was there and said you hoped nothing changed. Makes me wonder what you heard.
The world is always an uncertain place; it certainly feels that way now. All I know is that I appreciate everyone listening…and love hearing from you, even when it’s to take us to task for something. Friends share with one another that way. And I’m grateful we have so many radio friends out there.
