As questions continue in Washington about the future of year-round E15, Iowa leaders say the state is already seeing what expanded access can do. From more fuel choices at the pump to stronger demand for corn, Iowa Secretary of Agriculture Mike Naig says Iowa’s experience is offering a real-world example of how higher ethanol blends can benefit both consumers and agriculture.

Back in 2022, Iowa lawmakers approved an E15 access standard designed to expand availability across the state. Naig says that policy is now delivering measurable results, pointing to both increased infrastructure and growing savings for drivers.

Naig says Iowa’s approach has focused on expanding access while giving retailers flexibility to upgrade equipment and bring more locations online. He says the growth in fueling stations offering E15 is already translating into real savings for drivers and stronger demand across the biofuels sector.

Naig says Iowa’s progress is becoming a blueprint for other states looking to expand access to higher ethanol blends. As more fueling stations come online, he says expanded availability could continue driving savings for consumers while supporting demand for corn and strengthening rural economies.
