Cashing In in God’s Country
I suppose we are all proud of the place from whence we came, our original home. Given the wide variety of landscapes in Iowa, the fact that we have the most productive soil on the planet, and natural beauty covering all four seasons, I’ve been known to refer to this area as God’s Country.
Morgan Wallen is a young country music star with a bit of a rambunctious streak. Much was made of the fact that after appearing on the “Saturday Night Live” stage in New York, rather than participating in the forced cast call on stage as the credits rolled, he simply walked off and left the building.
What was even better was the somewhat cryptic Instagram post that followed…a photo of his plane on the runway, with the phrase “Get me to God’s Country” underneath. Sounded like a kid from the South who was glad to visit the big city, but even happier to leave. I was the same way when I used to have to travel for work. The phrase instantly was popular.
Now, the true capper—in full entrepreneurial spirit, his team is now offering t-shirts and caps with the phrase, “Get me to God’s Country”. You can get them on his website…but it will cost you. So-called trucker’s caps are $45…in navy and khaki colors. And the plain white t-shirt with the phrase? Also $45. Get both the shirt and the cap, and you’re eligible for free shipping.
You will have to wait, though…these are just now in production, and delivery might take until mid-June, according to the website…shortly after his new album debuts.
For some reason, I just like this story—every part of it. Not enough to buy a $45 t-shirt, however.
