One man is dead and another man is charged with murder after a shooting Wednesday night in Waterloo. Police responded to a shots fired call outside Ryder Logistics on Northeast Drive. At the scene, they found 33-year-old Dipree Devonte Jones. The tenants of an apartment building in Southwest Cedar Rapids are out of their homes after the city found the building was unlivable. Cedar Rapids Building Services deemed the building on Aossey Lane just off Hawthorne Drive Southwest is unfit for residents due to sewer problems, missing fire safety equipment, no electricity in some apartments and missing plumbing fixtures. The city says the landlord is ultimately responsible for these issues. Residents in the eight-plex apartment building were told to leave. The city says no one can live in the apartments until all the city code violations are fixed.

Dubuque police are warning people about a scam that puts bank account information at risk. They say the scammer will ask people to download an app called “any desk” or something similar to that. That gives them access to people’s personal information. The scammer will deposit money into the victim’s bank account, but demand a refund in gift cards. Police say it is a red flag if somebody asks for a gift card that is completely unrelated to what you’re talking to that person about.
