LAKE MACBRIDE, Iowa (KCRG) – One person has died after falling through ice on Lake MacBride. The Joint Emergency Communications Center recieved a call from an individual on a walking trail near the main boat ramp at Lake MacBride State Park at 8:50 a.m. on Saturday morning. The individual reported broken ice, as well as a pair of gloves on the ice, and was concerned that someone had fallen through. Emergency personel arrived to the area and discovered a body in the lake. Members of the Solon Fire Department put on ice rescue suits and removed the individual from the water. The individual was transported via ambulance to the University of Iowa Hospital, but did not survive. It is not known how long the person was underwater and the incident is currently under investigation by the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office.
CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (KCRG) – Cedar Rapids police said no one was injured after a shots fired incident early Saturday morning. Police said they were called to 208 2nd Avenue Southeast at 1:45 a.m. for reports of gunshots being fired. Upon arrival, officers found multiple shell casings. But police said they believe no one was injured. The incident is under investigation. Anyone with information is asked to contact police.
HENRY COUNTY, Iowa (KCRG) – The Iowa State Patrol said one person is dead after a crash in Henry County. Police said a pickup truck was traveling east on Highway 78 around 12:40 Saturday morning when it drove off the road for an unknown reason. The truck came to rest and caught fire. The driver was pronounced dead on the scene.
MUSCATINE, Iowa (KCRG) – Muscatine police responded to 208½ East 2nd Street in downtown Muscatine just after 8 Friday morning for the report of a possible homicide. When officers arrived, they found the body of 24-year-old Michael Anthony Enriquez deceased in the third floor hallway of 210 East 2nd Street. Enriquez had been shot multiple times. Just after noon, investigators received information which led them to believe the suspect was at 109 East 4th Street in Muscatine. This residence was quickly secured by officers and after a few minutes of being on the scene, the suspect, 36-year-old Francisco Nunez Garcia, voluntarily came out of the residence and surrendered without incident. Francisco Nunez Garcia has been charged with Murder in the Second Degree, a Class B Felony, and is being held at the Muscatine County Jail. The investigation into this case remains on going.
