Save The Date–Number 4
Back in 2022, KXEL celebrated its 80th anniversary…so we threw ourselves a party and invited you to join us. That was the first year of our now-annual picnic, and folks like Senator Charles Grassley, Secretary of State Paul Pate, now-Attorney General Brenna Bird, and broadcasters including Von Ketelsen, Ken Root, Dustin Hoffmann, Michael Libbie and Ken Chester talked to you from the stage.
The next year, as the Iowa first-in-the-nation caucuses were heating up, we had a number of presidential candidates, including Vivek Ramaswamy and Larry Elder, visit with you.
Last year, in addition to state representatives and state senators, you were treated to national best-selling author and radio and TV host Todd Starnes.
Each of those events has been great fun, with a couple hundred of you joining us each time. So here goes…we’re already making plans for our fourth annual event, and it’s time to share the first details with you.
Please join us for “IowaFest(R)” to be held on Saturday, August 2nd, from noon to 3 p.m. at the National Cattle Congress Pavilion in Waterloo…same place as always, and as always, on Saturday afternoon. Oh, and as always–it’s free and open to anyone who likes great Iowa food and fun conversation with your friends and neighbors.
We are lining up our special guests, but I’m pleased to share today that among those attending will be Iowa broadcasting hall of famer Van Harden, who you probably know from that other 50,000-watt clear channel radio station in Iowa. Van will share stories from his career, and talk about his latest book, “Jesus: The Prequel”–you’ll be able to meet Van and buy a signed copy of the book, too.
We’ll tell you how to sign up for free tickets another time, but the news for today…KXEL presents “IowaFest(R)” on Saturday, August 2nd from noon to 3 p.m. at the National Cattle Congress in Waterloo, with Van Harden among the special guests you’ll meet.
It may be six months away…but I’m already looking forward to those Iowa pork sandwiches and milk shakes for dessert.
