INDIANAPOLIS, Indiana (KCRG) – A Texas man was arrested in Indianapolis and is facing charges for allegedly threatening former Hawkeye basketball star Caitlin Clark. Michael Lewis, 55, is charged with stalking after the Marion County Prosecutor’s Office said he sent “numerous threats and sexually explicit messages to Clark via his social media accounts.” The messages were sent over X between Dec. 16, 2024 and Jan. 2, 2025m according to an affidavit from the Marion County Sheriff’s Office. ABC reports investigators were able to trace the messages from the X account to an IP address at an Indianapolis hotel. The affidavit also says Clark does not know Lewis, nor has she responded to his messages, and that she has been fearful for her safety since receiving the messages.

WATERLOO, Iowa (KCRG) – Police in Waterloo are investigating a shooting that sent at least one person to the hospital. Waterloo Police tell TV9 that the shooting happened around 4:50 p.m. Sunday in the 400 block of Edwards Street. One person was taken to the hospital. That person is expected to survive. Police could not say where on their body that person was shot. There is no information about a suspect.

DES MOINES, Iowa (KCRG) – 2024 was a record-breaking year for the Great Iowa Treasure Hunt, according to the State Treasurer. The Great Iowa Treasure Hunt reunites people and businesses with unclaimed property. “In 2024, we returned more than $30.9 million in unclaimed cash back to rightful owners and beneficiaries – shattering the previous record set in 2022 by more than $6.5 million,” State Treasurer Roby Smith said in a news release. Smith’s office said millions of dollars in abandoned property is turned over to the state every year. There is currently more than $587 million in the Treasurer’s hands in unclaimed property. The property can include things like forgotten checking and savings accounts, stocks, uncashed checks, life insurance policies, utility refunds and safe deposit box contents. SIOUX CITY (KTIV) – After more than 40 years, a man has been arrested and charged with murder in the 1983 death of a Sioux City teen. Thomas Duane Popp was arrested Saturday, January 11, 2025, in Cowlitz County, Washington on a charge of 1st-degree murder. According to a release by Woodbury County Attorney James Loomis, a grand jury was impaneled on Friday, January 10, 2025, regarding the cold case murder of then-18-year-old Terri McCauley. McCauley was reported missing by her family after she went out on September 27, 1983, to meet up with friends in Downtown Sioux City and never returned home. Her body was discovered in a ditch in early October near 33rd Street off Floyd Boulevard. She had been shot point-blank with a 20-gauge shotgun. A suspect was arrested in an unrelated case, but never charged with McCauley’s murder. Popp was indicted by the grand jury for 1st-degree murder. He remains in custody in the Cowlitz County Jail in Washington State.
