From the KCRG TV9 Newsroom:
The Cedar Rapids Community School District says a petition regarding the College and Career Pathways program is invalid. A parent in the district submitted that petition, which gathered more than 600 signatures. It asks the district to slow down the implementation of the College and Career Pathways model to give parents more time to understand the process. In a response to that petition on Friday, district leaders said there were insufficient eligible signatures with many of the signatures on the petition coming from outside Cedar Rapids and even Iowa. Because the district has deemed the petition invalid, district leaders will not add that matter to the next school board agenda. However, Superintendent Dr. Tawana Grover said the district does value the feedback from the community.
