IOWA CITY, Iowa (KCRG) – The owner of an Iowa City bar is facing charges for allegedly making no attempt to stop a fight that involved more than 20 people on Sunday. Adesola Miller, 31, of Iowa City, is charged with Keeping a Disorderly House for the incident at The Haven, located at 220 S Van Buren Street. In a criminal complaint, police said The Haven was very busy with people and there was loud music playing. Just before 2:30 a.m. on Sunday there were about 20-30 people physically fighting inside the bar, causing damage to the inside of the bar, and Miller was present as it was happening. Bar security had to yell outside for officers to come help get the situation under control. Officers were injured while responding to this incident. Police said Miller made no efforts to prevent conduct that threatened injury to people and damage to property. This is the second time Miller has been charged with disorderly house. She was previously convicted for an incident that happened at the bar in September. The incident on Sunday is the same one in which a woman grabbed a knife and cut two people, forcing them to go to the hospital. One of the victims was pregnant and had a small stab wound to her stomach. The other victim had tried to intervene, but suffered a small cut to her leg and her face was sliced open. Lacey Bode, 35, is charged with multiple counts of assault, willful injury and going armed with intent, for the incident. In an update on Wednesday regarding the stabbing, officials said the baby is expected to be okay.
CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (KCRG) – A Cedar Rapids woman is facing charges after law enforcement said she caused damage to fiber optic cable boxes, resulting in an internet outage for about 100 homes and businesses on Tuesday. Jeannine Marie Torres is charged with Critical Infrastructure Sabotage and Criminal Mischief. A criminal complaint says Torres intentionally cut and damaged fiber optic cable boxes at 6th Street and 27th Avenue SW in Cedar Rapids. Officials said the cost for ImOn to repair or replace the damaged cable boxes exceeded $1,500.
IOWA CITY, Iowa (KCRG) – The University of Iowa says it received a report of a sexual assault on campus over the weekend. According to Campus Safety, the assault happened early Saturday morning at an east side residence hall. The assault was reported to be perpetrated by an acquaintance. It’s not clear if anyone has been arrested.
IOWA CITY, Iowa (KCRG) – An Iowa City woman is facing a robbery charge after police say her daughter got in a fight with a Casey’s employee on Saturday. In a criminal complaint, police said it happened at the Casey’s store at 204 North Dubuque Street. Investigators said Lametry Hall, 43, and her 16-year-old daughter went to the store to collect a $200 debt from a store employee. The daughter and the employee began fighting. Police said the daughter pulled out a knife and stabbed the employee. The employee was able to get away and fled to the kitchen area. Lametry Hall followed the employee and continued to confront the employee about the money. Police have not said if the daughter is facing charges in this case. They have also not released the condition of the victim following this incident.
