IOWA CITY, Iowa (KCRG) – Iowa City Police are asking for help as they search for a woman they say is connected to a stabbing that left two people hurt. The stabbing happened at 1:19 a.m. on Sunday at The Haven, a nightclub located at 220 South Van Buren Street. Police say two people were hurt, but did not suffer life threatening injuries. Police did not describe the extent of their injuries. Iowa City Police describe the attacker as a woman, with short blonde hair and about 30 years old. Police ask anyone with information or even video should contact authorities.
BREMER COUNTY, Iowa (KCRG) – The Bremer County Sheriff’s Office responded to a grass fire on Monday which was caused by a cigarette. It happened early in the morning in the median of Highway 218, south of the 198 exit. Bremer County is currently in a burn ban. In a Facebook post, the sheriff’s office said this is a good reminder of how something as simple as throwing a cigarette out the window can cause potential issues. The sheriff’s office went on to say throwing anything from your vehicle, including cigarettes, is considered littering and could create other hazards.
DUBUQUE, Iowa (KCRG) – Police used cameras to track and arrest a suspect accused of stabbing a person in Dubuque early Saturday morning. Dubuque police said a group walking on Main Street around 2:00 am Saturday got into an argument with a vehicle that pulled up alongside them. The vehicle drove away but returned a short time later. That’s when a passenger of the vehicle got out and stabbed a 21 year-old man in the abdomen. Police used traffic cameras to track the vehicle to a bar in East Dubuque. That’s where police arrested 22 year-old Gabriel Dominguez of Sherill, Iowa. He was charged with Attempted Murder and Going Armed with Intent. The driver of the vehicle, 22 year-old Scott Wessels of Dubuque, is also charged with a felony accessory after the fact. Both are in custody in Jo Daviess County, Illinois awaiting extradition to Dubuque.
WAUKEE, Iowa (KCRG) – 88 people will be out of work as a company closes its plant in Waukee. According to its announcement on the Iowa WARN website, Quad Graphics Printing will close in January. Its website says it is a Wisconsin-based global marketing company. It’s not clear why it is closing. Last week, the company announced plans to sell the majority of its operations in Europe for $45 million dollars.
