CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (KCRG) – Police in Cedar Rapids are investigating a shooting that happened Wednesday night. Police tell TV9 the shooting was reported around 7:30 p.m. in the 1100-block of 3rd Street SW. Officers did not find anyone injured at the scene, but they did find shell casings.

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (KCRG) – Cedar Rapids police tell KCRG-TV9 that a motorcycle driver was injured in a crash late Wednesday night. Police say the motorcycle collided with another vehicle around 10:15 p.m. in the area of Wilson Ave and 6th Street SW. The motorcycle driver was taken to the hospital. There is no word on the extent of the driver’s injuries.

HILLS, Iowa (KCRG) – The Iowa City Community School District and the city of Hills are in agreement on the demolition of the Hills Elementary School building. The district and city leaders announced the decision in a joint press release Wednesday, saying the decision was made after considering other potential uses for the building and the costs for renovations. Iowa City Community School District Superintendent Matt Degner said demolishing the building is the most practical and beneficial choice. The demolition is expected to begin in the coming months. More details on the process are expected to be released at a later date.

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (KCRG) – Iowa head coach Kirk Ferentz, along with wide receivers coach Jon Budmayr, will be suspended for one game, according to reporting from The Athletic. Scott Dochterman reports Ferentz and Budmayr committed a recruiting violation during quarterback Cade McNamara’s recruitment. The suspension steps from a recruiting violation, but it is unclear whether is comes from the University of Iowa or the NCAA. Ferentz will be made available to the media at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday.
