The Cedar Rapids Fire Department says crews were called to the 600 block of Weaver Road NW just before 5:30 p.m. At the scene, firefighters found a fire in the back of the home. Crews pulled hose lines and were able to extinguish the fire on the home’s back porch as it traveled up the rear wall of the house. The fire was out before it could spread inside the home. ALBURNETT, Iowa (KCRG) – A precautionary boil order has been issued for Alburnett until further notice. According to a message on the city’s website, the city pinpointed a source of discoloration in one of its wells. The city has switched to another well and is currently flushing its system. Alburnett says the boil order is out of an abundance of caution as it waits for test results confirming water quality. The city is asking people to boil all water used for drinking, food prep, making ice, and brushing teeth. Water should be boiled for one minute before use. Alburnett says water may continue to be discolored as the city flushes hydrants to clear its system. Residents will be notified when the boil order is lifted.
