CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (KCRG) – A home is damaged and a person is injured after a single-vehicle crash Monday afternoon. Police say the incident occurred at approximately 3:10 p.m. in the 2000 block of Williams Blvd SW. Officials say that no one inside the home was injured. One person in the vehicle was injured. Officials say the home sustained some damage along with a tree and lawn mower. An investigation into the incident is underway. Officials that only traffic tickets have been issued so far.

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (KCRG) – A Cedar Rapids man is facing multiple charges after police said he assaulted a victim so severely, they remain hospitalized and will require multiple surgeries as they recover. Court documents show 47-year-old Richard Brown is charged with attempted murder, willful injury, and domestic assault. A criminal complaint says police were called to St. Luke’s Hospital on April 19, where they said they found the victim who had been beaten severely. The victim had multiple facial injuries, including a broken jaw, both orbital bones were fractured, along with multiple smaller facial fractures. The victim also had at least seven broken ribs. Police said bruising on the victim’s face was consistent with being kicked or stomped on with a shoe. Investigators said Brown was identified as the suspect in this case. Brown turned himself in and was arrested on Saturday morning. Authorities said Brown admitted to the assault. The investigation into this case remains ongoing.

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (KCRG) – Cedar Rapids Animal Care and Control officers are investigating what they’re calling the suspicious deaths of three dogs. Investigators said walkers on the Sac and Fox Trail between Cole Street and Otis Road reported having found three dead juvenile pit bulls. One was reportedly found on April 15 and two more were found on April 16. Investigators said all three dogs died after being abused and were most likely related, possibly from the same litter. Officials are asking that anyone with information regarding the dogs contact Cedar Rapids Animal Care and Control at 319-286-5993 or the CRPD non-emergency hotline at 319-286-5491.

DAVENPORT, Iowa (KCRG) – A 41-year-old man from Muscatine has been sentenced to 210 months in federal prison after attempting to entice a minor. According to court documents, Paul Kyle Quigley engaged in a Facebook conversation with an undercover officer posing as a 15-year-old. Quigley, who was already a registered sex offender, reportedly requested sex acts with the 15-year-old after being told their age. Officials say that after multiple days of “continued conversations of a graphic sexual nature,” Quigley came up with a plan to meet the 15-year-old and flee the state. He was arrested just prior to arriving at the established meeting place. After completing his sentence he will be required to serve 15 years of supervised release. There is no parole in the federal system.
