Taking A Leap—Day

This is February 29th…we can only say that once every four years, of course. It’s the day we add to the calendar to even things out…so by all rights, by the end of today, we’ll be all caught up calendar-wise, and spend the next four years falling behind by a few seconds a week.

We call it Leap Day. No one is fully sure why it got that name or when.

So since it’s a clean slate, let’s try something. When we do something that is outside of our comfort zones, we often say that we are “taking a leap” to get to that new point. Maybe it’s a goal to reach, maybe it’s starting a project.

Why not take this extra day, this “Leap Day,” to each re-evaluate and determine what it is that we want to try but haven’t for whatever reason, and resolve to “take a leap” and do it. Not today necessarily, but deciding today to do it would be a good start.

I have a couple of projects in mind that I’ve held back on. Maybe this extra day is the time to create the action plan and “take a leap.”

I know, we’re all busy enough that this quickly becomes just one more day of the same-old, same-old that gets in the way. And most assuredly, it does.

But in one respect, that’s what “taking a leap” is all about.

May as well take advantage of it…since in about 10 days we’ll be losing an hour of sleep due to daylight saving time beginning. Take the extra time while you can.
