A Sympathic, Elderly Man with a Poor Memory
Don’t take my word for that assessment of President Biden…it’s the assessment of the special counsel investigating whether Biden mishandled government documents.
Special Counsel Robert Hur says he will not recommend criminal charges against Biden, despite improperly possessing documents related to national security and foreign policy which implicated, in the counsel’s words, “sensitive intelligence sources and methods.”
Photos with the report showed classified Afghanistan documents in a broken down box without a lid in Biden’s garage. And the special counsel said investigators, quoting now, “uncovered evidence that President Biden willfully retained and disclosed classified materials after his vice presidency when he was a private citizen.”
But no criminal charges. I’m not going to compare the Biden situation with those of others now facing criminal trials. What’s even more concerning is this paragraph from the special counsel’s report.
“We have also considered that, at trial, Mr. Biden would likely present himself to a jury, as he did during our interview of him, as a sympathetic, well-meaning, elderly man with a poor memory,” Hur wrote in the report. “Based on our direct interactions with and observations of him, he is someone from whom many jurors will want to identify reasonable doubt. It would be difficult to convince a jury that they should convict him—by then a former president well into his eighties—of a serious felony that requires a mental state of willfulness.”
So no criminal charges because at trial, Biden would be a “sympathetic, well-meaning, elderly man with a poor memory.” That elderly man with a poor memory who is currently the President of the United States, who has control of the nuclear codes, who is the supposed leader of the free world…and who is running for re-election.
Forget the documents. The prosecutor says they’re afraid of not getting a conviction at trial because the jury would sympathize with Biden as a well-meaning, elderly man.
Somehow I don’t think the leaders of China or Russia are that sympathetic…and their interactions with the elderly man with a poor memory affect the future of us all.
