MARION, Iowa (KCRG) – Just after 9:00 p.m. on Saturday, Marion Police went to the Southview Drive and Ridge Drive area after receiving reports of shots fired. Once officials arrived at the scene, they found a woman suffering from non-life-threatening injuries. Authorities have discerned that the shooting was due to a family dispute and that there is no threat to the public. The incident is under investigation.
CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (KCRG) – Just before 4 a.m. on Sunday, the Cedar Rapids Fire Department responded after receiving a report of smoke in an apartment building. When crews arrived at the scene they located the fire in a first-floor apartment in a two-story apartment building. Firefighters entered the building and quickly put out the fire. There were no occupants in the apartment at the time of the fire. However, there were people in other apartments in the building. Only minor damage was sustained due to the fire and no one was injured.
WEST DES MOINES, Iowa (KCRG) – An 18-year-old student from a school in the West Des Moines area is now charged with threat of terrorism. In a press release, West Des Moines Police say on Thursday night, they started to take reports of social media comments made by a specific person that threatened a school. Police worked with the FBI as they started to investigate and find that person. Around 6:45 p.m. Thursday, West Des Moines detectives arrested Lakeeve Fort for the threat of terrorism. West Des Moines Police ask anyone who sees, hears or knows of threats to contact them or your local authorities, and say they have no tolerance for threats.
DUBUQUE, Iowa (KCRG) – After four months of service, the last Avelo Airlines flight from Dubuque to Las Vegas left this past weekend. The airline announced the end of the service last November, saying demand was low. The airport says it’s disappointed, but is committed to working with Avelo. The final Avelo flight to Vegas departed on Saturday. Those who had booked later flights will get a refund or voucher.
