These Boots Are Made For Walkin’
The latest controversy in the 2024 presidential contest that has commentators breathless has to do with…whether Gov. Ron DeSantis wears lifts in his boots to make him appear taller.
Seriously. With all that’s going on in the world, folks are spending time analyzing diagrams of photos of the man’s boots to see if the heel is of standard height, and if you can see something additional built up on the inside.
As a person who would not be considered tall…I don’t care. He’s a bit taller than I am, judging from the one time we talked in person a couple of weeks ago.
DeSantis is back in Iowa today with a full schedule that includes an interview. I guarantee that I will not be asking about his boots…in the same way I would not ask Donald Trump about his hair color or tanning regimen.
None of that has to do with what the person would do in office, which is what’s most important.
Does the President need to look good and present an image of being in control? Absolutely. And if having a well-fitting suit, touching up the roots of their hair, or even shoes to be taller helps give the Commander in Chief more confidence in the job…great.
Besides, I don’t believe anyone cared about DeSantis’ footwear when he wore the boots of a U.S. military man in the aftermath of 9/11.
