HANCOCK COUNTY, Iowa (KCRG) – Prosecutors charged an Iowa man with first-degree murder after police found his estranged wife dead during a welfare check. The Hancock County Sheriff said Karen Crews was found dead Saturday morning at a home in Woden. Roger Crews was arrested later that day in Minnesota. Crews is being held for first-degree murder. Investigators said the couple had separated and were living apart.

IOWA CITY, Iowa (KCRG) – Brian Ferentz will no longer be a Hawkeye at the end of this football season. The announcement comes after years of tension from fans with the Iowa Hawkeye football team. Brian Ferentz, the son of head coach Kirk Ferentz, is the Offensive Coordinator and Quarterbacks Coach. He’s been with the coaching staff since 2012 and has been in that position for 7 years. The University made changes to his contract for this season, following years of low performance from the offensive line at the University.

WATERLOO, Iowa (KXEL) – GasBuddy says average gas prices in Iowa fell 10.5 cents in the last week, leading to an average statewide price of $3.21 per gallon. Gas prices in Iowa are 34 cents lower per gallon than a month ago and are 29.8 cents lower than a year ago. The cheapest gas in Iowa was priced at $2.79, while the most expensive was priced at $4.02; that’s a statewide difference of $1.23. The national average price of gas fell 5.3 cents last week for a $3.45 average.

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (Iowa’s News Now) — A social media post making threats against students and staff at Metro High School in Cedar Rapids did not impact classes Monday after police and school leaders determined the threat not to be credible. In a letter to parents, district leaders said they take all threats seriously and continue to work towards a safe and secure environment. No changes to this week’s schedule at Metro or any other schools has been announced. A threat earlier this month on social media was deemed credible and led to the closing of schools across the district. The threat later led to an arrest in that case.
