We Gather Tomorrow
I know, you have plans for the last weekend of the month, the last weekend before Labor Day. But hopefully, your plans will include joining us tomorrow at the National Cattle Congress grounds in Waterloo.
Our now-annual listener appreciation picnic, this year called the KXEL Caucus Cookout, will be inside the air-conditioned Pavilion building just inside the main gate. We open the doors and start serving fine grilled Iowa pork and beef at 11 a.m.—yes, side dishes and ice cream, too—then starting at noon, we’ll start the presentations from the stage.
Come and go as you wish…certainly no obligation to stay for the whole thing, but you may well want to…you’ll hear from four presidential candidates in person: Vivek Ramaswamy, Larry Elder, Steve Laffey, and Perry Johnson…candidate Ryan Binkley’s wife Ellie will be there…plus we have surrogates representing Ron DeSantis and Nikki Haley…and former Iowa House Speaker and current Republican Party of Iowa co-chair Linda Upmeyer will greet you, as will a couple of members of the Iowa House.
Above all, though, there will be plenty of time for conversation, mixing and mingling with the candidates—and did I mention the food?
