CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (KCRG) – UnityPoint Health – St. Luke’s Hospital has reported that power was restored to the facility around 7 p.m. Wednesday, after running on a back-up generator for about three hours during a power outage. The hospital previously reported at approximately 3:40 pm, the hospital lost its primary power feed and was currently on generator power. The hospital and ER both remained open and caring for patients. In a statement, UnityPoint Health says that their generators were providing some air conditioning and that it’s being steered to patient care areas. They are continuing to monitor the situation. Alliant says a malfunctioning switch gear caused the issue, hitting parts of downtown and Medquarter. As part of the outage, roughly half of the Coe College campus was also without power for a period of hours.

DUBUQUE, Iowa (KCRG) – A Dubuque man has been arrested after allegedly exposing himself to a child. According to police, 22-year-old Demario Moore exposed himself to a child under the age of 3 in the 900 block of Wilson on July 14, 2023. Screen captures of surveillance video were given to police to back up these claims. During an interview with officials, Moore allegedly admitted this occurring. Moore was charged with Enticing a Minor under 13-Sexual Abuse or Exploitation, Assault with Intent to Commit Sexual Abuse, and Indecent Exposure.

MANCHESTER, Iowa (KCRG) – Wednesday afternoon, the City of Manchester confirmed that a heat-related explosion took place at Three Rivers FS in the 1000 block of S 5th Street. Officials say that 1 anhydrous ammonia tank exploded and damaged two others at the facility due to the heat. Crews have blocked off South 3rd Street to Grant Street, and Grant Street to Burrington Road at this time. The company confirmed to KCRG-TV9 that no one was injured in the incident.

MONTICELLO, Iowa (KCRG) – A Monticello cheerleading coach was arrested Monday at her Ankeny home on sexual exploitation charges. Court documents say 35-year-old Jessica Rubin was the cheerleading coach for Monticello High School wrestling when she allegedly had a sexual relationship with a student at the high school. The document says the student confirmed to Child Protective Services the relationship lasted from January 2021 through September 2021. The school resource officer reportedly received a complaint regarding the relationship from Monticello High School Principal Nick Schauf on January 10, 2023. Rubin is charged with Sexual Exploitation by a Counselor.
