We’ve heard from some of you over the past few days, suggesting we re-evaluate our relationship with Fox News Radio in light of news discussed Friday on the Glenn Beck and Todd Starnes shows. The Blaze reported that Fox encouraged employees to make donations to left-wing causes, through indicating which organizations would receive matching corporate contributions.

Certainly not the first time we’ve heard from you on the Fox topic…it started right after the 2020 election, and prior to this past weekend, it came up after Fox took Tucker Carlson off of TV.

We are constantly evaluating what we put on the air, and are reviewing this latest story about Fox, which has been heard on KXEL for the past 9 years.

Prior to that, dating all the way back to 1942, KXEL was an ABC affiliate; there are only a few ABC radio affiliates in Iowa and we could return to them…but I’m not sure those of you with concerns about Fox would find that to be a positive move. CBS radio is already on stations in the Waterloo/Cedar Falls and Cedar Rapids markets, so we’re barred from them…and NBC is only available to stations owned by iHeart; but again, not sure you’d find those options any better than the current Fox.

We’ve looked at the USA network…but multiple ownership and management changes, complete with lawsuits, have me a bit nervous about that right now. That leaves Townhall news, operated by the Salem Radio Network…but they do not offer the variety of program and feature options Fox does. No, Newsmax does not have a radio news service.

Plus there are contracts in place, etc., on all this.

I have looked at switching from Fox for several years, because you can hear it on dozens of stations in Iowa, and we like to be distinctive. But again…the options are not great.

So we invite your comments on this or any topic, and like to keep you informed on potential changes such as this. Unfortunately, it’s not like switching to another convenience store because it has friendlier clerks.
