From the KCRG-TV9 Newsroom:

Iowa City Police arrested a second person for a shooting last fall. Police arrested 24-year-old Tramon Robinson of Coralville. His arrest comes two months after police say he and 19-year-old Antonio Scotton of Cedar Rapids were involved in the shooting death of 36-year-old Waymond Thomas in an alley outside H-Bar in Iowa City back in October. Investigators say they were all involved in a fight, when Robinson dropped his gun–which Scotton is accused of picking up and firing. Robinson is charged with one count of control of a firearm by a felon.

The Linn County Attorney is defending a plea deal for Timothy Rush, one of two shooters at Taboo Nightclub in Cedar Rapids. Three people died in that shooting on April 10 of last year. Rush shot into the crowd, killing two people, Marvin Cox and Nicole Owens. He took a plea deal for less  prison time, and received a sentence this week of 30 years for involuntary manslaughter among other charges. Linn County Attorney Nick Maybanks says the evidence supported a plea deal and said a murder conviction may have been difficult to get. He says this case is one of many that support the need for a Reckless Homicide charge, which would come with a stronger penalty.

The Cedar Rapids building that housed a UnityPoint office that a fire destroyed could become housing. A developer wants to build a four story residential building in the 3800 block of River Ridge Drive. It would have 104 units on the second, third, and fourth floors. The project would cost $18.5 million dollars.

An Iowa City animal shelter is seeing a lot of people giving up their animals. Iowa City Animal Care and Adoption Center say their shelter is already so full. Last May they took in 51 dogs… and so far this month, they’ve already taken in 62. Workers there say the cost of  taking care of a pet is the reason why many people are giving up their animal to the shelter.

An Iowa restaurant has made the “100 Best Burgers in the U.S.” list. Yelp put together the list based on ratings and reviews contributed online. Zombie Burger and Drink Lab in Des Moines and West Des Moines came in at #35. Zombie Burger used to have locations in Iowa City and Coralville that have now permanently closed.
