MAYNARD, Iowa (KCRG) – Two people from Maynard were arrested and charged after law enforcement executed a second drug-related search warrant at their home in the span of three months. The Fayette County Sheriff’s Office said 20-year-old Karylann Lewin and 37-year-old Jaron Evans were charged with possession of methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia and child endangerment. Officials said they found the drugs and drug paraphernalia at the home in the 100 block of 7th Street North in Maynard. They also said they found an infant living at the home.

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (KCRG) – A 29-year-old woman died after being stabbed at the Cambridge Townhomes in Northeast Cedar Rapids on Monday evening. In a press release, police said they responded to a report of a stabbing in the 2100 block of North Towne Court Northeast at about 6:45 p.m. Police said the stabbing victim, Devonna Walker, was taken to a n area hospital, where she later died. Officers detained two people to be interviewed regarding the incident. Both were later released. The investigation remains ongoing. No additional details have been released.

HAZLETON, Iowa (KCRG) – An accident involving a semi caused the closure of part of 150th Street south of Hazleton Tuesday morning. The Buchanan County Sheriff’s Office said the crash happened at around 7:20 a.m. when the driver of a loaded semi heading westbound on 150th Street lost control on the icy roadway. The semi broke through a guardrail on a bridge just west of the intersection of 150th Street and Indiana Avenue, and went over the side, landing in the water below. The driver, who was assisted by first responders, was able to get out of the vehicle and suffered only minor injuries.

DES MOINES, Iowa (Iowa’s News Now) — The person responsible for abandoning a dog outside the Des Moines Airport on December 29 now has a warrant for his arrest. The New Jersey man is responsible for leaving the dog tied up outside the airport and boarded the flight alone because he did not have a kennel. The dog, whom ARL staff has been calling “Allie” to the ARL. Once Allie receives her spay surgery, microchip, and any other needed veterinary services, she will become available for adoption.
