Good Riddance

I hope this is not becoming a trend. I seem to recall that at this point at the end of 2020 and the beginning of 2021, I commented on what a horrendous year it was…from COVID to the elections…and I glad to bid that old year farewell, with the hope that the door didn’t hit it on the way out.

Then came 2021, which you would have thought would have been better than 2020—after all, the bar was set pretty low. But sure enough, 2021 was another year to forget thanks to supply chain issues, inflation, vaccines that did not prevent disease, continued overly woke culture, and so on.

Surely…surely…2022 would be the light at the end of the tunnel. I suppose to some degree it was, but at other points that light at the end of the tunnel was from an oncoming train. Midterm election results, anyone?

So here we are in the shiny new year 2023. I wish I had more optimism, to be honest.

2022 was a complete blur…yes, I suppose all of us when we get to a certain age whine and moan about how fast time is going…but truly, where did that year go?

I have no great insight regarding how to make the changes needed in society…but it starts with each one of us, in our own ways and in our own lives. Small victories can lead to confidence, which can lead to more victories…you get the idea.

But the start of a new year is as good as any time to start this new resolve…bit by bit, from each of us in our own way.

I wish you health and happiness in this new year…and a deep hope that at this time next year, we’ll look back on 2023 as the year things started to turn around, and move in the right direction.
