It’s Over
The pandemic, that is…the pandemic is over. At least that’s what the president said on “60 Minutes” in an interview that aired Sunday night.
We still have problems with it—his term—but the pandemic is over.
That came as a surprise to some in the White House, who were working on continuing mandates and legal cases as if the pandemic was still alive and well and infecting Americans.
Depending on when you hear this commentary, the White House may have walked—or run—the comment back. And the president himself may have denied ever saying it, Jack.
Dr. Anthony Fauci made a speech yesterday, noting that new variants to the virus are coming up all the time—which gives those in power the green light to slide back into “pandemic” mode if they need to grab power again.
I’m not saying the president is wrong. There are, after all, various metrics in place before something reaches pandemic status—and we’re out of a pandemic when the metrics drop below that threshold. In that respect, it’s just math.
Then again, we used to have agreed-upon metrics for determining when we were in a recession, and the administration erased those as not-agreed-upon.
Alright, the country’s leader says the pandemic is over. That should mean dismissal of the court cases on the issue, removal of the mask and vax mandates, reinstatement of all those who lost jobs because they objected to an unproven jab…all of that.
But it won’t. After all, there’s an election to be won, and power to be retained.
