CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (KCRG) – Cedar Rapids Police are asking for help investigating a Monday night shooting that wounded a woman. It happened at 10:36 p.m. Monday night in the 300 block of 16th Street Southeast. Officers say it started as an argument that led to a shooting. Police found a home had been hit by gunfire, but no one in the home was hurt. Later Monday night, a woman arrived at a hospital who said she was shot at the same place officers were investigating the shooting. She is expected to be okay but police say the victim is not cooperating with investigators. If you have security camera video or information, police ask you to call them at 319-286-5491.

WATERLOO, Iowa (KCRG) – Voters will have the choice of eight voting locations for the September 13th special election. The election is over a proposal to issue $20 million in general obligation loan notes for a fiber optic broadband communications system. The ballot will be the same for all voters, so individuals will have the option of choosing their own polling place. The eight voting centers are:

  • ISU EXTENSION, 3420 University Ave, Conference Room A
  • CROSSROADS COMMUNITY CHURCH, 3622 Hammond Ave
  • MERCYONE KIMBALL, 2055 Kimball Ave
  • ST. PAUL UNITED METHODIST CHURCH, 207 W. Louise St
  • OUR SAVIORS LUTHERAN CHURCH, 420 Harwood (east entrance)
  • PAYNE MEMORIAL CHURCH, 1044 Mobile St.
  • ZION LUTHERAN CHURCH, 810 Kimball Ave (lower level)
  • CEDAR VALLEY CHURCH, 3520 Ansborough Ave

The Hudson School District is also holding an election on September 13th to vote on $11.65 million in bonds being allowed for high school improvements, a revenue purpose statement, and a physical plant and equipment levy. Voting for this election will be held at the Hudson Community Center (525 Jefferson St.), except for those voters in that part of the district within the city of Waterloo. Those voters must vote at one of the eight Waterloo vote centers. Voters in both jurisdictions may vote early at the Election Office, Room 210 of the Courthouse, 316 E. 5th St., Waterloo, weekdays 8:00 am – 4:30 pm through Monday, September 12th. OTTUMWA, Iowa (KCRG) – On July 21st, 2022, Ottumwa Police received a complaint from a family regarding their 12-year-old daughter receiving inappropriate text and social media messages from a possible adult male. Police were granted permission to take over the social media account of the child and the child’s phone and continued communicating with the individual. They were able to identify the subject as 19-year-old Austin Kilberger. During this investigation, Kilberger reportedly sent the victim illicit photographs of himself and requested the victim send him nude images. On August 25, 2022, officers from the Ottumwa Police Department and the Cedar Rapids Police Department executed a search warrant on the suspect’s residence, vehicle, and person. He was arrested on September 5, 2022. Kilberger was charged with Sexual Exploitation of a Minor-Cause to Engage in Act, Enticing a Minor under age 13- Sexual Exploitation, and Telephone Dissemination of Obscene Material to a Minor – 1st Offense. He was taken to the Wapello County Jail where he is being held with a bond amount of $22,000.

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (KCRG) – An Osage man charged with the disappearance and death of a woman he had just met is pleading not guilty. 22-year-old Nathan Gilmore is charged with killing Angela Bradbury in 2021. A human skull was found in July 2021, and DNA testing confirmed it was Angela Bradbury, who was last seen in April 2021. In an August 19th, 2022 interview with police, Gilmore reportedly claimed he met up with Bradbury on April 6th, 2021, the last day she was seen alive, but dropped her off later in Mason City. Police say Gilmore was at the park the day the skull was found and that his story reportedly changed upon further questioning. During a search of Gilmore’s residence, police say they also found a whiteboard in Gilmore’s living room with GPS coordinates of where the skull was found. Gilmore is pleading not guilty to Murder in the First Degree.
