This Land Was Made For You And Me (Part Two)
Picking up where we left off yesterday, and our attempts to ruin Iowa land…here’s the latest horrible idea…creating a series of tunnels across the state, ripping up productive farm ground, to bury a pipeline to move carbon dioxide from one place to another, so it can be sequestered deep underground. These are multi-billion dollar projects, promoted by companies with lots of campaign cash, so you can see how this is laying out. But it’s potentially destroying our true path to economic development, agriculture, in the name of pie-in-the-sky “economic development” ideas that benefit out-of-towners rather than Iowans.
I once asked a wind advocate why Iowa should be ruined with turbines so that energy can be gathered and transferred out of state. He said it was for the greater good. But he didn’t sound like he even believed it. And I sure don’t.
Once lost, it’s lost. Let’s think long and hard—and fight–before irretrievably giving up that which God has given us.
