Boosterism
We’ve heard a lot about requirements and limitations based on your COVID vaccination status. You can’t go here, or work there, unless you are fully vaccinated. And to this point, that’s meant the one-shot J&J vaccine, or the two-shot-protocol as developed by Moderna and Pfizer.
I hate to even mention this, because I haven’t really heard anything about it, and certainly don’t want to give those who love mandates any ideas…but how long is it going to be before they revise the definition of “fully vaccinated”?
I’m afraid that just like those who did not get shot 2 of Moderna and Pfizer being tabbed “not fully vaccinated”…soon, even if you got the double jab, you’re going to be labeled “not fully vaccinated” if you don’t get the booster.
If you think the percentage of so-called fully vaccinated persons is low now…just wait.
How many of us know people who were very eager to get both of the COVID shots because they felt it was the right thing to do…and who now say they are not inclined to get a booster. Personally, I’ve heard that story from a lot of people…and I frankly don’t talk about vaccinations with too many folks, so for it to come up at all is worth noting.
Some aren’t getting the booster because of very real side effects from the original vaccine. Some aren’t because they were on the fence about the whole thing to begin with, and figure they’re vaccinated enough already. Others are suspicious that this is the start of a big pharma cash grab, leading to more and more shots supposedly needed so they can get more and more money. Relatedly, still others don’t get a flu shot or a shingles shot each year, and figure this is just another annual jab they can skip.
An increasing number aren’t standing in line for another jab because of COVID fatigue…not the tired feeling you have after contracting the virus, the feeling that we’ve heard so much about this for going on two years, and they’re over it.
I still maintain this is something for you and your doctor and family to decide. Today, simply noting that if jab advocates are bemoaning the fact that they can’t get the percentage of vaccinated any higher than it is now…just wait until the narrative changes to require booster shots. Yet again noting that that metric, percentage of vaccinated, is less and less relevant if we care about actually fighting the virus.
