More Numbers

Yesterday I shared information from a new Morning Consult/Politico poll, focusing on sliding popularity for President Biden. Today, some more data from the survey conducted earlier this week, with a margin of error of plus-or-minus 2 points.

They asked the respondents to rate how Congress as a whole is handling coronavirus. Only 25 percent said Congress as a whole was handing it at a good or excellent level…31 percent said poor, and 36 percent said fair.

And before you blame one party or the other, when the question was about one party or another, the number of people who said “poor” was even higher for both Democrats and Republicans…so we don’t care much for Congress as a whole on the issue, but think even less of them when they are identified as D’s or R’s.

59 percent said they were more concerned about the public health impact of COVID…with 34 percent saying the economic impact of coronavirus was more important.

71 percent of respondents said they had received at least one dose of a vaccine…if that helps us understand some of the other numbers.

As for a future threat to the U.S., 61 percent cited Islam as a critical threat…while only 38 percent said white nationalism, so-called, was critical. Illegal immigration was called a critical threat by nearly half the respondents…but only 29 percent cited income inequality and only 38 percent said racial inequality was critical.

That’s important because we vote based on what is most critical to us. And on certain key issues, those up for election next year don’t seem to have our confidence.
