I Don’t Know, But Maybe I Do
I don’t know if the president really was checking his watch while waiting for the bodies of murdered American military to pass by yesterday in what is known as a dignified transfer, and if so, if he was actually concerned about Hurricane Ida making landfall at a certain time and trying to stay current as opposed to looking like he couldn’t wait to do something else.
Just like I don’t know if the president actually fell asleep as the Israeli prime minister was talking during their oval office meeting Friday in front of other officials and media video cameras, and if so, if it was because of a series of long days and stress tied to the death of more than a dozen in Kabul on his watch as opposed to him needing his afternoon nap.
And I don’t know if the president leaned on the podium during his most recent media briefing in an odd defeated pose, head down, clutching his portfolio folder, and if so, if he was giving the question from the reporter serious thought or instead melting down because of confusion as demonstrated during the remarks he made during the session.
I don’t know, but it sure looked like all those things happened, with ample photographic and video evidence to support it, and if so, I don’t know which of the possible explanations is correct.
But I do know that is how the leader of the free world is being seen by others…friends, foes, American citizens. Given everything of late, I also know that’s not a good look, with potentially dire consequences for us all.
