Ready to Feel the Bern Again?

Talk about having no fear, Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders is hitting the road next week to rally support for the Democrat budget reconciliation proposal, the one that will add another $3.5 trillion to the national debt.

He’s stopping in two congressional districts–one in Iowa, one in Indiana–where Donald Trump not only did well last November, but increased his margin of victory from 2016.

In short, he’s coming to MAGA country.

One of the two stops is in Cedar Rapids on Sunday, August 29 at 2 p.m. at the NewBo City Market Stage.

The news release notes that Trump’s vote total increased from 2016 to 2020 statewide in Iowa by nearly 100,000 votes…and his margin in the first congressional district increased by more than 20,000 votes. It also notes that the district is represented by a Republican.

Sanders is quoted as saying this is the most consequential piece of legislation since FDR’s new deal. And the release is full of meaningless buzz words like making the wealthiest Americans “pay their fair share” and that the bill will help “working people”.

Democrats have no straight majority in the Senate, and the thinnest of majority in the House; they’re rightly afraid of losing at least one chamber in next year’s elections, so they’re desperate to ram through as much as they can now, while they can.

So much so, that they’ll send Bernie to the reddest of red areas. Red in this case meaning Republican, of course.
