No Coincidence

Continued confusion from Washington last week…at various times, we heard all of the following–be sure to get the shot so you can be free, but even if you have the shot you have to wear a mask, and even though data shows children have virtually no chance statistically of getting COVID they have to have masks in classes but maybe not at recess.

The mayor of Washington, D.C. issued a mask mandate but delayed its implementation…apparently until after her own birthday party. She posted photos on social media to prove it.

No different in Chicago, but the mask mandate was delayed until after the major Lollapalooza music festival.

The trust level in government on this topic is low…lower even than the chance of being hospitalized due to a breakthrough variant even if you’ve been vaxxed…and that’s pretty low itself.

It is hardly a coincidence that the newly-defined crisis comes just as schools are going to reopen. We already have plenty of evidence that the national teachers unions helped craft government policy on the topic of school reopening, mask wearing, etc.–so it’s hard to not suspect that those unions are again flexing their influence with Democrats in government to get their way and avoid having in-person learning this fall.

The sheer lack of data to support the change back to “mask ’em if you’ve got ’em” is no different than when one day we were told masks were not needed…there was no data then to justify the policy change, just political considerations. Same thing now, a few months later.

They’re probably hoping we pay attention to the mask game, and won’t notice the Democrat-controlled House failing its constituents on an eviction moratorium extension…or the Democrats in the Senate steamrolling so-called human infrastructure.

Won’t they be surprised to learn that citizens can pay attention to all of that at once…and will vote accordingly next chance they get.
