Go Ahead…Leave
I grew up during the last half of the Vietnam War, and I recall one of the retorts used against protestors… “America: Love It or Leave It”. It adorned popular t-shirts of the time.
That’s my feeling now. Because in a broad sense, life’s too short to think otherwise.
If you don’t like the job you have…then either figure a way to do something else (admittedly not always as easy as it sounds) or else stop complaining.
Similarly…if you’re an American athlete who hates this country, don’t compete on our Olympic team. Find a country whose ideology better fits yours, and wear their uniform.
One of the hallmarks of the America most of us love is the ability to disagree publicly with government. That typically means on various issues, or regarding which people we want as leaders.
But if you’re that unhappy with things, from the foundational structure of the government on down…maybe you are better off not being so miserable all the time, and find somewhere else to go.
Now it is quite true that a group of colonists overthrew a government they didn’t agree with nearly two and a half centuries ago, and there are some today who want to do that same thing…call them progressives, socialists, Marxists, whatever.
The beauty of America is that we allow them to try. But realistically, wouldn’t all you unhappy folks be better off elsewhere? A lot less work, and you’ll benefit from that other system much more quickly.
So, with all due respect…love it, or leave it.
