Naming Rights

We have to be so careful these days about what we say, for fear of offending people. That’s according to the politically correct woke folks, of course.

I was walking through a garden center of a store one morning over the weekend, looking at various plants. I came upon the collection of herbs and found a veritable United Nations there.

For example, from that one store in Iowa, I could have selected a Bavarian Mint plant. Or, if I liked, Italian Sage…or if I preferred, Russian Sage.

For a little more zest, how about Hungarian Paprika? Or if your loyalties lie elsewhere, there was Spanish Paprika.

The global experience continued with English Thyme…and its apparently European cousin, French Thyme.

No problem with identifying items and strains of items based on their geographic origin, at least where plants are concerned.

But call something the “China Virus” and you can lose your right to speak. It’s apparently okay to refer to the virus variants by their geographic origin…but not the actual virus.

They really do own us, don’t they? And I guess by “they”, I mean both the woke folks, and China.
