May I Offer You A Cookie?
Vice President Kamela Harris left on an international trip Sunday night…traveling to Guatemala and Mexico, ostensibly to determine the root cause of why so many people are pouring over our southern border to access the U.S. Many suggest she should focus on reinforcing the border first. Her plan is like finding a team of structural engineers to determine why the dam is leaking water…without plugging the hole in the dam first.
It’s obviously the first international trip by a female vice president…since she’s the first female vice president. But the way in which she marked the milestone to members of the press corp was…unique.
The trip got off to a bad start when the plane, Air Force 2, had to turn back a half-hour into the trip due to mechanical issues. That set the agenda behind by a couple hours as a new plane was readied.
While in the air, the vice president came back to the press section offering up decorated sugar cookies…some shaped like the plane…and some resembling her. Well, sort of her…the skin tone, hair style and color, and outfit resembled what she looked like that day, but there was no actual face…just smooth icing.
What would the reaction have been if President #45 strolled to the back of the plane with sugar cookies that resembled him, right down to bad-orange-man-hair?
For that matter, what if Mike Pence had handed out similar sugar cookies?
No word on how the cookies tasted…but the “taste” of handing out such cookies is questionable.
