The Facebook Oversight Board made its decision known yesterday…former President Donald Trump is still off of Facebook.

But there’s so much more to it than that.

First, the board admitted that the social media giant violated its own policies in permanently banning the then-leader of the free world from the platform. Then they said the ban would stay in effect…but had to be reviewed again in six months.

From my viewpoint, this could not have been better for President Trump.

He doesn’t have to worry about being on the platform…yet they had to admit that they had done him wrong.

It gives him more reason to move forward with his own digital platform, probably to be called “Freedom”. He’s started something like that at donaldjtrump.com/desk…with more information promised sooner than later.

And it allows him another valid opportunity to sound off publicly against these corporate communication giants who exist in this way thanks to exemptions passed under federal law…exemptions that are perilously close to being removed.

The only downside of Trump being off Facebook is that he used to get a lot of money that way through donations and merchandise sales.

I doubt any of you are surprised at the board’s decision…and probably also don’t think anything will chance when they look at it again in six months.
