Got Your Six

If you avoided coverage of last week’s presidential address to Congress, you may have missed this…but to me, it was an outstanding touch.

It’s traditional for the president to walk down the center aisle and be greeted on the way in and out by members of Congress. I thought I saw Iowa Republican Mariannette Miller-Meeks, dressed in bright red, being one of those who purposefully went to greet the president from another party. At first I thought it was a sign of bi-partisan respect for the office…and I suppose it was.

But it was something even better…a dig at Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi.

Congresswoman Miller-Meeks was wearing a black mask…adorned with a giant number 6.

I’m told she wore what she did and greeted the president at the aisle because there was no way Speaker Pelosi could miss it… of course, the “6” is a reference to how many votes she won by in last year’s election…and since Pelosi was the engineer of the ill-fated attempt to strip her of the seat and deny Iowa voters the right to select their representative, our congresswoman wanted to make a point.

Bravo, Congresswoman. So very well done…as was the staged photo taken later with the President, both standing in front of flags, six feet apart…with the White House not understanding the meaning of the mask and therefore going along with the photo.

You may say that was petty…but nothing in comparison with a very real attempt to steal an election from Iowa voters.

“Six” has another meaning–“got your six”, as in, having someone’s back. Congresswoman, rest assured…we’ve got your six.
