Another Disconnect

Dr. Anthony Fauci has kept up his robust media appearance schedule this week…including an interview on Good Morning America earlier this week. The only real take away from the softball chat is that he now is scaring parents.

Without sharing data, and without being asked about data, Fauci blamed team sports for infecting young people in schools. He claimed there was an increase in infection among young people not so much from classrooms, but instead those dreaded team sports without the treasured masks.

He said we should think hard before allowing team sports to resume in schools, once schools reopen.

Once again, those in the D.C. bubble cannot conceive of how the majority of real Americans live their lives. Our schools are open, some without masks in classrooms. Oh, as for team sports…Iowa was the first in the nation to resume high school athletics…and we did it 10 months ago, in June of last year…not even three months after the pandemic began.

Did you miss the stories about the huge increase in cases among young people who played baseball and softball last summer? Or sports this past fall? Or winter?

No, you didn’t miss any such stories…because there weren’t any, because no such outbreak took place.

Enough of the national fear factor. Be smart. Live your life. Don’t believe what the folks in Washington who have been on all sides of the issue are saying…because we’re past the point of forgiving well-intentioned mistakes. Now, there’s a deeper control agenda at work. So convene class, play ball, and don’t fall for things that don’t make sense to you…because you really do know better.
