Challenge Withdrawn
The withdrawal was as orchestrated as the challenge…Democrat Rita Hart, who lost the Iowa second congressional district race to Republican Congresswoman Mariannette Miller-Meeks, issued a statement yesterday afternoon withdrawing the challenge application she had filed with a partisan U.S. House committee, seeking to overturn the election results which had been certified by a bipartisan Iowa panel.
My personal belief is that this whole challenge effort was bought and paid for by Pelosi-led factions, who gave her permission to withdraw without further harm only when they saw one Democrat in Congress, after another after another, come out against the naked power grab, which only a day earlier Pelosi herself publicly encouraged.
Regular folks were starting to figure out that the party which did not want to hear any challenges to the presidential election because the votes were certified by states…now was in favor of throwing out the results of an election that…wait for it…was certified by a state.
Not to mention that it was going to put current state auditor and future Democrat candidate for governor Rob Sand in a bad position…having to explain why he voted to certify the results as true and accurate, when his national party was claiming malfeasance. Same would go for state treasurer Mike Fitzgerald in his next re-election effort.
Ever closer races are exactly the reason why we needed to tighten up our voting laws in Iowa, and have. Not that there was fraud…but because when elections are consistently closer and closer, you have to improve even a system that’s working. That’s all Iowa’s changes will do, Democrats mindlessly chanting “voter suppression” notwithstanding.
So now, Congresswoman Miller-Meeks can breathe a bit more easily, knowing that instead of keeping one eye on the baseless attempt to throw her out, she can fully focus on representing the people of the second district.
That is, until Rita Hart declares her candidacy for the 2022 race rematch, which I expect will come before summer…with plenty of Pelosi-backed money ready, in thanks for playing along with their game this year.
