Dennis Lowe's Bio
Birthplace: Waterloo, IA

Education: Waterloo Central High School ’79; Brown College ’81, Broadcasting Degree; University of Northern Iowa ’90, B.A.

What I Like About My Job: Informing and entertaining the public.

Favorite Activities and Interests: Movies, watching sports (live and on TV), listening to music (especially live) and golf (when I can find the time).  If it involves the UNI Panthers, Iowa State Cyclones, Green Bay Packers or New York Yankees, I’m in!

Favorite Music: I love “the Motown sound.”  Favorite bands include Rush, The Eagles, Heart, Steely Dan, The Doobie Brothers and Genesis.  I have so many favorite solo artists.  Males include Frank Sinatra, Tony Bennett, B.B. King, Neil Diamond, Billy Joel and Elton John.  Females include Carrie Underwood, Colbie Caillat, Melissa Etheridge, Pat Benatar and Adele.

Favorite Movies: Citizen Kane, Payback, The Big Lebowski, The Sting and anything starring or directed by Mel Brooks and Clint Eastwood.

Favorite TV Shows: All-time favorite: The Sopranos.  Also loved 24 and Seinfeld.  Current favorites: NCIS, CSI, Mad Men and Burn Notice.

Favorite Books: Biographies and historical perspectives.

Little Known Fact About You: I’m nicer than I appear.

Favorite Moment In Radio: Tough to pick one in 30-plus years.  I’m very proud of how our staff responded to the floods of 2008.  Even though our station was literally surrounded by water, we never missed a beat.

Anything Else You Think We Should Know:  I’ve met and interviewed every president since Gerald Ford (not necessarily when they were in office).
