Documents: Man failed sobriety tests in Epworth crash

Documents say a man failed field sobriety tests after a utility vehicle crash in eastern Iowa that killed four teenage boys last month.

A search warrant to take photographs and a blood sample from the man shows deputies smelled alcohol on the 24-year-old following the Aug. 2 crash at the intersection of two roads near Epworth.

Police say the man, who was driving a pickup, failed to stop at a stop sign and struck a four-wheeled utility vehicle carrying Sean Kenneally, Mitchell Kluesner, Nicholas Kramer and Bryce Wilwert. All were 14.

Dubuque County Sheriff's Deputy Tony Dalsing wrote in the warrant that the man failed two of three standardized field sobriety tests.  No charges have been filed in the case.
